Is Neti Pot Use Safe
The Jury Is Still Out
Neti Pot Danger is something that isn't generally discussed among its proponents, who practically swear by it. People report relief from allegies and sinus problems, and say that they have experienced pressure relief thank to the use of the Neti Pot, which irrigates your sinuses by way of the nostrils. Nasal saline irrigation may also help with the cilia inside the nasal cavities, while it thins mucus and allows the body's natural cleansing mechanisms to clear the sinuses of offensive pollens, dust, allergens, and bacteria.
People who are against neti pots may either consider them a folk remedy or a health hazard. The nature of the pot, and its use in the nostrils, are said to cause infections or exacerbate nasal problems which should be treated by a medical doctor. Also, misuse of the pot, or too much pressure in use (usually by the person pressurizing the water by snorting) could create nasal damage. Also, people with comprimised sinues, through nasal drug use or other problems, could find that a Neti Pot may make things worse. Otherwise, people may point out to the lack of medical information on how a Neti Pot would be used. According to WebMD, some people experience irritation and stinging, which can be a side effect of the amount of salt used, and a few people may experience nosebleeds.
Notes and Special Information
Special note: Improper use of any sinus irrigation tool, especially among multiple people, could potentially spread germs. Also, it isn't waterboarding if you do it yourself!
